Image
Bringing the story of courage, justice, and self-reliance to life through experiential learning History becomes meaningful when students go beyond reading about the past and begin to understand the people, struggles, and ideas that shaped it. As part of their learning of “Indigo” by Louis Fischer , our students explored the story of the Champaran Satyagraha and Gandhi’s remarkable approach to addressing injustice. Discovering the Story of Champaran The journey began with Rajkumar Shukla , a poor and determined sharecropper from Champaran, who approached Gandhi at the 1916 Congress session in Lucknow and urged him to visit the region. His persistence eventually brought Gandhi to Champaran to understand the hardships faced by the peasants. Students explored how the peasants were forced to grow indigo on 15% of their land under the prevailing arrangement with British landlords. The situation became even more difficult when synthetic indigo was developed, leading the land...

Image
Choosing a school is one of the most meaningful decisions a parent makes. A school influences not only a child's academic journey but also their confidence, values, social skills, and overall personality. While board results and rankings often attract attention, the best school is one that helps children grow into curious learners, responsible individuals, and confident communicators. If you're planning your child's school admission , here are ten important factors to evaluate before making your decision. 1. Understand the School's Learning Framework Before choosing a school, every parent should ask three important questions that define the quality of education: What will my child learn? – A well-structured CBSE/Cambridge curriculum that builds knowledge, skills, and values. How will my child learn? – Through interactive, experiential, and student-centred teaching that encourages curiosity and critical thinking. How wil...

(An Extension to the Class 12 English Lesson “Deep Water” by William Douglas ) Created by Anushita of Grade 12 D Fear is one of the strongest emotions experienced by human beings. It can stop people from chasing their dreams, weaken their confidence, and create barriers in life. However, courage is not the absence of fear; it is the ability to rise above it. The Class 12 English lesson “Deep Water” by William Douglas beautifully explains how fear can be conquered through determination, confidence, and persistence. Similar to Douglas’s journey of overcoming his fear of water, the life of Kalpana Chawla reflects the same spirit of courage and resilience. Kalpana Chawla’s inspiring journey from a small town in Karnal to becoming an astronaut is a perfect real-life example of overcoming fear and achieving greatness. Her story connects deeply with the theme of Deep Water , where fear is transformed into strength through continuous effort and self-belief. Fearful State – A Small-Town ...

Bridging Social Divides: A Young Social Worker’s Perspective on Empathy and Action

Image
By Vishwam Pant | Shri Ram Global School, Greater Noida As a XII-grade student, I often wonder about the world I am inheriting. Studying social issues like poverty , discrimination , mental health crises , and the erosion of civic values in my school syllabus opened my eyes to the harsh realities that many face every day. Inspired by a strong desire to contribute meaningfully, I assumed the role of a social worker in my mind—a role that asks not for grand solutions but for small, consistent actions driven by empathy. Understanding Key Social Issues I began by addressing economic inequality , highlighting how poverty affects real people’s daily lives and triggers a cascade of related problems such as crime, poor health, and limited educational opportunities. Next, I explored discrimination in its many forms—whether based on race, religion, gender, or other identities—emphasizing its corrosive impact on human dignity and societal cohesion. The mental health crisis stood out a...
